The Lone Star Hiking trail meanders through the Sam Houston National Forest between Cold Springs and Richards Texas. The 128 miles of foot paths are well marked with white or sliver Blasé markers. Trail Heads are well maintained and offer parking for day hikers. The LSHT Club sponsored Hikes and Work hikes are scheduled throughout the year .The general public is welcome to take part in the clubs weekend activities. Hikes are easy to moderate and according to the schedule may cover up to 8.miles What You Need to Bring Hikers: Bring lunch, WATER, Fanny or daypack, rain gear, insect repellent, First Aid Kit and any other specialty items you may need during the hike. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended Work hikers: Include the above hiker items, plus work gloves, and all weather boots are recommended. Tools are provided, but if you have a lopper or a swing-blade bring it along. NOTE: Please use prudence in selecting your activity. Hikes are moderate-paced and can take place during extreme weather conditions. Come prepared. Also please consider your physical condition before hiking. As in many physical activity, there are inherent dangers for possible injury due to falls, fatigue, etc. Please know your limits !!!
